Hagersville Kicks Off 150th Anniversary in Grand Style
On January 5, 2025, Hagersville launched its 150th-anniversary celebrations with a memorable event that brought the community together in reflection and celebration. The day began at Market Square (1 Main St. S.) with a bagpiped ceremony, a warm welcome from the town crier, and remarks from Haldimand Mayor, Shelley Ann Bentley, and a representative from Haldimand-Norfolk MPP, Bobbi Ann Brady's office. The long-buried time capsule, sealed during the town's 125th anniversary, was unveiled at the Hagersville Arena, revealing treasures of the past. The reception honoured the town's history, along with town founders, and recognition of members of the Almas and Hager families who were in attendance. The reception also showcased art by local artist Karen Zandersons, and treated attendees to, free skating, and refreshments.

The kick-off set the stage for a year of celebrations, including the much-anticipated return of Ag Day on June 6, 2025, which will feature agricultural education, live music, family-friendly activities, and food trucks. This year-long commemoration pays tribute to the people, businesses, and landmarks that have shaped Hagersville into the vibrant community it is today. Stay tuned as we continue this historic journey!
